Interesting fact

I find how Louis became an Olympian quite interesting. As a boy he was a huge trouble maker, he often times got into fights with many of his classmates. One day he was brought home by a police officer and he recommended he would run for a punishment instead of juvenile detention. He ran almost everyday until he became interested in it. He then started to participate in track and from there be became an athlete.

Devil at my heels

This story is about Louis Zamperini's military service in the Second World War. Louis was a world class Olympian who was going to make his highlights in the 1939 Berlin Olympic Games. Unfortunately for him, Europe falls into war as Adolf Hitler invades Poland. He is forced to stop.

Just two years later, Japan strikes at Pearl Harbor. He then enlists in the US Army Air Corps. After becoming a bombardier of a B-24 Liberator, he flew in multiple missions in the Pacific. One day he was called in for a rescue mission, he was sent to rescue a downed B-25 in the ocean but he never made it back. He had crashed in the middle of the Ocean and was forced to survive a painful 47 days at sea.

Fahrenheit 451 setting

The story takes place in a futuristic society where the government has banned all sources of knowledge and has drugged the people with electronics, propaganda, and many other methods. The government has absolute power and want to keep it. They fear that knowledge comes with power so they banned books. They use firemen to track down and burn the books, they also severely punish hoarders who keep them.

 In comparison to the real world, both societies are similar. Often times with dictatorships in countries, the dictator controls the press and media for the same reason, tying back to the essential statement, "knowledge comes with power."
